The inaugural winners of the Ron Barassi Medal, awarded to the Premiership captains, are the star key defender and dual Brownlow Medallist, who in both years at the helm of the Brisbane Lions have led their side to the Grand Final. After a 4-point loss to Collingwood in the 2023 decider, the Lions belted the Sydney Swans by 60 points this year, with Andrews marshalling a dominant backline and Neale having a game-high 35 disposals.
