Originally drafted as a forward, Mitchell spent 2 injury-plagued years on Hawthorn’s senior list before being delisted and picked up again in the 2023 Rookie Draft (overall pick 6). Transformed into a speedy half-back, the 21-year-old made his AFL debut in Gather Round and has averaged 18.6 disposals in 11 games. He picked up the Round 17 Rising Star nomination after having another 20 in the Hawks narrow loss to the GIANTS in Sydney.
