The dashing key defender assumed the captaincy from Scott Pendlebury at the beginning of 2023 and Collingwood's 48th skipper is now only the Magpies third living Premiership captain (joining Tony Shaw and Nick Maxwell) after piloting the team to the top of the ladder and then the exhilarating Grand Final win over the Brisbane Lions. It capped a superb year for the 27-year-old who was named the All-Australian centre half-back and played his 150th game in the Grand Final.
