Hill became the youngest Norm Smith Medal winner since his teammate Scott Pendlebury 13 years earlier in the wake of a dazzling display that saw him receive the maximum 15 votes from the 5 judges. The 23-year-old's game-high 4 goals were all kicked before half-time and were a career-best in his 65th match. He took the best mark of the game (over Brandon Starcevich late in the second term to kick his third) and his 14 kicks were also a personal best.
