Rounds 0 to 24 - CLOSED
FINALS WEEK 1 - OPEN until WEDNESDAY 10th SEPT MIDDAY
QF1 Hilites - Darcy Moore - Collingwood
In the absence of the injured Jeremy Howe, the Collingwood captain stepped up to produce a defensive masterclass to blunt the much-vaunted Adelaide Crows attack and lead his side into a home Preliminary Final. Nine of Moore's game-high 10 marks were intercepts (one off the AFL record), 4 were contested and all 13 of his disposals were also intercepts as the Magpies restricted the minor premiers to their third-lowest score of the season (55 points) to win by 24 points.
QF1 Hilites Milestones - Taylor Walker - Adelaide Crows
The veteran forward and former captain became just the fifth Adelaide Crow to play 300 games when he took the field in the first match of the 2025 finals series. Walker, also the club's goals record holder (680, which ranks 29th all time), didn't get to celebrate a win in his milestone game but was one of the Crows best in the 1st Qualifying Final against Collingwood with a season-high 18 disposals, 9 marks and 2.3.
QF2 Hilites - Oliver Dempsey - Geelong Cats
The classy winger ranked first for the Geelong Cats for disposals (25) and goals (3) in their authoritative 38-point take-down of the reigning premiers at the MCG to ensure the Cats would get a week off. Dempsey had 22 of his 25 disposals by three quarter-time and a total of 9 score involvements to be a constant menace to the Brisbane Lions. His third major in the final minute of the third quarter was a spectacular, half-volley soccer effort.
EF1 Hilites - Jai Newcombe - Hawthorn
Hawthorn's reigning Best and Fairest celebrated his 100th game in the 1st Elimination Final in spectacular fashion with a powerful best afield performance that helped knock the GIANTS out of the Premiership race. Newcombe's team-high 32 disposals (17 contested) included an equal game-best 12 clearances as the Hawks survived a spirited comeback to win by 19 points. The 24-year-old also booted a goal and had 2 goal assists.
EF2 Hilites - David Swallow - Gold Coast SUNS
In a remarkable finish, the Gold Coast SUNS games record holder (248) kicked the winning score (a goal overturned by video review to a behind) with 9 seconds remaining to hand the club victory by a point in its maiden finals appearance. Swallow, who will retire at season's end, was the sub who didn't enter the game until the final quarter. His set shot from 50m after a free for holding the man sunk the Fremantle Dockers.
