The son of the late Paul Dear, the 1991 Norm Smith Medallist, has made a bright start to his AFL career after being selected at pick 56 at the 2023 AFL Draft. He picked up the penultimate Rising Star nomination after booting 3.1 and having 12 disposals for the second week in a row. The 195cm marking forward's display against Richmond took his season tally to 19 majors from 14 games.
